Dr. Ian Lewin Lighting Study ISA now has available a guide based on peer-reviewed research that includes recommended brightness standards and an overview of the importance of ensuring appropriate brightness. This guide has been developed to assist stakeholders concerned with development of brightness standards for large-format, electronic displays used for on-premise sign applications (i.e., EMCs). The brightness guide is based on peer-reviewed research by Dr. Ian Lewin of Lighting Sciences, Inc. Dr. Lewin is a leading lighting expert with over 30 years experience in the lighting industry.

This is unfortunate because each type of digital sign has very distinct capabilities and purposes, each targets a specific audience and each has traditionally been treated under separate legal and regulatory regimes.
