ISA lobbies Prince George's County, Md., on new development

ISA and the Greater Washington D.C. Sign Association took their opposition to a proposed development ordinance to the Prince George's County Courthouse on Jan. 26. Meeting with the chairman of the county's Zoning Committee, ISA's Ken Peskin and Kerley Signs' Tom Kerley asked the Council to increase the sign size limitations in newly developed "urban nodes" and "transit corridors" so that they take into account the sign size formulas distributed by the American Planning Association. Peskin also asked for legislative intent language to be changed to recognize that as many as 40,000 cars/day will pass by this new "pedestrian-scale" development. Earlier advocacy efforts by ISA and GWDCSA have resulted in the legislation allowing additional forms of illuminated wall signage on new development. For more information contact ISA's Ken Peskin.
