Michigan town creates draft sign code using ISA and SFI resources

Mundy Township, Mich., is currently debating a comprehensive sign code overhaul. As part of ISA's code-tracking and rapid-response service, ISA staff started talking with sign companies and local officials from the area in January 2009 and made an appearance before the Mundy Planning Board in May. The proposal as it stands is among the first to show clear evidence of being based on provisions from the Signage Foundation Inc.'s distributed Weinstein-Hartt model sign ordinance, as it features illustrations and significant code language borrowed directly from the SFI model ordinance. The township expects to have a final vote on the sign code by the end of March.
