Workplace Safety

Many of the OSHA’s (Occupational Safety & Health Administration) regulations affect the sign industry on a daily basis. ISA has compiled items from OSHA’s list of regulations relevant to the sign industry. In addition, the National Commission for the Certification of Mobile Crane Operators has useful resources for safe mobile crane operation.

ISA's Mobile Crane Operator Safety Training Program
OSHA’s Cranes and Derricks in Construction Rule 29 CFR Part 1926 requires that every operator of cranes having maximum load-lifting capacities greater than 2,000 lbs. must be certified within 3 years.

ISA’s Crane Training program includes 3 days of training followed by the written and practical exam, allowing companies to comply with the new requirements. Visit our crane training page to learn more about this certification.

Working with OSHA

OSHA offers several cooperative programs under which businesses (including sign companies) can work with the Agency to help prevent fatalities, injuries, and illnesses in the workplace. This website will help you decide which cooperative programs are right for you.
