Deadline for Submitting 2014 NEC® Proposals to ISA is August 15, 2011

Deadline for Submitting 2014 NEC® Proposals to ISA is August 15, 2011

Proposals to amend or add rules to the 2014 NEC® Article 600, Electric Signs and Outline Lighting, must be submitted to the NFPA Standards Council no later than November 4, 2011.

For this reason, any proposals or suggestions submitted for consideration by the ISA Electrical Subcommittee must be received by August 15, 2011. Please submit your proposals or suggestions to Bill Dundas, ISA’s Director of Technical & Regulatory Affairs, [email protected]. Please include a statement identifying the issue and explaining how your proposal remedies it. If accepted, ISA’s Electrical Subcommittee will draft the necessary substantiation and include it on the appropriate NFPA form.

The submitter agrees to grant ISA permission to formally submit any proposals accepted by the Electrical Subcommittee under ISA’s name as the sponsoring organization.

The National Electrical Code® governs how electric signs are built for installation and use in the US. The NEC® is characterized as belonging to its users and each Code® cycle presents an opportunity for users to submit proposals to modify or update the rules. ISA’s two delegates on Code Making Panel 18 are instrumental in shepherding proposals benefitting the sign industry through the NEC® rule-making process. The ISA Electrical Subcommittee develops and oversees the proposals submitted by ISA; works with other groups and individuals with an interest in electric sign safety; and provides direction to ISA’s delegates on other Article 600 proposals under consideration by CMP 18.
