How to Use SRF Research to Grow your Business

The Sign Research Foundation (SRF) develops peer-reviewed research that is free for companies in the sign, graphics and visual communications industry to download and use. This research covers topics such as sign design, effective regulations, economic value and ROI of signage, sign trends & technology, and best practices. And companies just like yours are using this research for customer acquisition, employee onboarding, and planner education.

We want to share with you a few ideas on how you can use SRF research to grow your business. For example, SRF has a report called Consumer Perceptions of Retail Signage. With retail signage an increasing focus of companies in the sign, graphics and visual communications industry, this study offers a wealth of insight into consumer behavior. But how can you use this data to your benefit?

  1. Get a quick understanding of the topic. Download the executive summary of the report. You’ll get a quick read overview of what’s in the report in a graphical and easy to consume way. If you need more, you can dig into the full report for specifics.
  2. Resolve an issue with a sign regulator. Share the evidence-based insights or the report with a sign regulator to help you get permits approved more easily. You can show this graphic to your regulator, explaining to them why certain factors decrease the legibility of signs and why your design is strong.
  3. Sell more signs. Share these insights with your customers to help them make effective decisions about their retail signs in a way that builds confidence in your designs and brings them back for more.
