Educational Events at ISA International Sign Expo Break Attendance Records

Alexandria, VA – April 16, 2012

Participation in educational offerings during ISA International Sign Expo 2012 increased 28 percent over the last Orlando event, held in 2010. In all, attendance set a record as 73 sessions were held as part of the sign industry’s largest exhibit and educational event.
“All aspects of manufacturing are faced with a shortage of trained employees and the sign industry is no different,” said Lori Anderson, ISA’s president and CEO. “By offering quality educational programs that explored the gamut of the on-premise sign industry, ISA was able to provide companies in our industry with an outstanding solution to meet this need.”
This year, educational events at International Sign Expo included two new tracks to enhance understanding of key current issues: workplace safety and dynamic digital signage.
“We spend an entire year developing programs and offerings for International Sign Expo,” said Matthew Rumbaugh, ISA’s director of education. “We want to make sure that we’re responding to the needs of our industry and that we have the top experts in the field delivering the most relevant course content.”
The annual ISA International Sign Expo is just one facet of ISA’s commitment to raising the professional knowledge of the industry. ISA continually offers webinars and other online learning opportunities as well as on-demand, in-person seminars.
ISA also provides on-site mobile crane operator safety training to help the sign industry meet federal mandates. In 2003, OSHA began a multi-year process of updating rules regarding crane safety, resulting in a requirement that all mobile crane operators be certified by November 2014. The ISA training helps mobile crane operators prepare for the certification testing, which is conducted by the National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO). Currently six sessions are scheduled throughout the country in 2012.
