International Sign Association Supports Sustainable Green Printing Partnership as Gold Patron

Alexandria, VA – December 14, 2011

The International Sign Association has joined the Sustainable Green Printing (SGP) Partnership, a non-profit organization that provides sustainability certification in the graphic communications industry. As a Gold Patron, ISA recognizes SGP as the industry standard in sustainability for print facilities and encourages sign companies with print production to become SGP certified.

Founded in 2008, SGP has developed benchmarks for print facilities’ sustainability efforts in the areas of product, the manufacturing process and the overall facility. With the addition of ISA, SGP now has the “full support of all major trade associations in the graphic communications industry,” said Marci Kinter, chair of the SGP board of directors.

ISA already has programs in place that assist companies in the sign and visual communications industry with state and federal EPA compliance. ISA also conducts research into alternative energy solutions for sign production and provides leadership in the industry on understanding and implementing the Federal Trade Commission’s Green Guidelines.

“More and more companies in our industry are finding that their customers are seeking a commitment to green practices, or local and state regulations are mandating it,” said Sapna Budev, ISA’s director of industry programs. “In joining SGP, ISA has taken another important step to helping sign companies with print production facilities develop a clear plan to pursue sustainability certification.”

ISA hopes to feature several SGP-certified companies in its third annual Green Product Showcase at International Sign Expo 2012, to be held in Orlando, Fla., March 21-24. At the event, more than 20,000 conference attendees will be able to experience the latest in sustainability products and initiatives.
