ISA Teams with National Manufacturers Association for Summit

Alexandria, VA – April 25, 2011

The International Sign Association (ISA) is joining the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) for a summit with sign manufacturers in Washington, D.C. The June 15-16 NAM Summit will reinforce the vital role that signs play in the U.S. economy and the importance of sound manufacturing policy to the sign industry.

“With stubbornly high unemployment figures and a new Congress in office, the stakes are high,” said Rich Gottwald, ISA’s executive vice president. “It is important that legislators understand the critical role of manufacturing to the U.S. economy.”

Last year, more than 350 manufacturers from around the country gathered for the NAM Summit. NAM members visited more than 160 congressional offices to emphasize the need for policies that will spur economic growth.

This year, NAM and ISA will build on that success by holding congressional meetings with ISA members.

The NAM event begins June 15 with a briefing lunch and ends the next day. Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.), chairman of the Senate Republican Policy Committee, and William Daley, chief of staff for President Barack Obama, are expected to address attendees.

Those interested in attending the summit should register through the NAM website.

ISA members who are planning to attend should notify David Hickey, ISA director of government relations, so that meetings with congressional representatives can be confirmed. Hickey can be reached at [email protected].

“Participating in larger industry events like NAM is extremely important for ISA and our members,” Gottwald said. “We share a common interest in sound manufacturing policy. Signs are an essential element of the larger manufacturing segment and, as such, it is critical that our voices are heard.”
