Mobile Crane Operator Evaluation Form

As of February 2019, OSHA requires employers to evaluate the competency of crane operators and their ability to work safely. Learn more about what the evaluation covers.

ISA has released a new resource for ISA members, the Mobile Crane Operator Evaluation Form, that is designed to assist you with this obligation.

If you have a knowledgeable, experienced employee who is qualified to assess others, you can perform this evaluation in-house using ISA’s form.

Alternatively, these evaluations can be performed by a third party, such as a firm who offers crane certification training or inspections, who will travel to your shop site and complete the evaluation(s) in approximately one hour per employee.

Note: The employer evaluation requirement applies to all crane operations in Construction industries using equipment covered by this rule. Exemptions from this requirement are made for derricks, sideboom cranes, and equipment with a maximum manufacturer-rated hoisting/lifting capacity of 2,000 lbs or less.
