Planners Learn About Creating Better Sign Codes

Nearly 200 planners from around the United States learned how they can draft sign regulations that encourage creative sign designs during a session at APA’s 2018 National Planning Conference in New Orleans, LA.

The 60-minute panel discussion, “Sign Regulations That Encourage Creative Sign Design,” featured city planners from Phoenix, AZ, Tucson, AZ and Gilbert, AZ, and was moderated by James Carpentier, ISA’s Director of State and Local Government Affairs.

Over 5,000 planners attended the National Planning Conference, with many stopping by ISAs booth to get their sign code questions answered and to walk away with the latest resources from the Sign Research Foundation (SRF).

Connecting with planners at the annual event is just one way the sign, graphics and visual communications industry is building a bridge to this important constituency – the local officials who draft and enforce sign codes. ISA and SRF have developed a number of resources that sign and graphics companies can help as their communities explore sign code changes. Learn more at www.signs.org/local.
