SRF Updates Urban Wayfinding Manual

The Sign Research Foundation’s Urban Wayfinding Planning and Implementation Manual has been updated with the latest trends and information. The guide was last published in 2013 and wayfinding has only grown in popularity and use since then.

Urban Wayfinding explores all facets of a wayfinding project from planning to implementation. It offers tips on financing, design, regulatory issues and maintenance. It is a  comprehensive guide that offers support to planners and city officials interested in developing wayfinding programs that enhance a brand and reinforce key destinations.

This manual offers new case studies that dive deep into how communities have successfully implemented urban wayfinding projects as well as the new trends that have surfaced over the last 7 years. The 2020 edition features projects in Upper Perkiomen Valley in Philadelphia; Phoenixville, Pa.; Charlotte, N.C.; Miami Beach, Fla.; Los Angeles; Vancouver, B.C.; and Rockville Town Center, Md.

Urban Wayfinding offers insight into funding mechanisms for communities as well as new technologies in use. Urban Wayfinding is available at the Sign Research Foundation website for $29.99 at signresearch.org/urban-wayfinding.

SRF will unveil the manual at an upcoming webinar, which dives deeply into the planning aspect of a wayfinding system. Craig Berger, FIT and Craig Berger Management Consulting; John Bosio, Principal at Merje; George Lim, Principal Partner/Creative Director Tangram Design will discuss financing, stakeholder management and regulatory management. Attendees at the July 29 webinar receive the manual as part of their registration. Learn more at www.signs.org/webinars.
